Originally started as a backyard flock, Southern Tier Stellar Poultry and Waterfowl has grown! With almost 200 birds on premise, we work hard to give them everything they need to thrive in the most natural setting we can!
Hi, I'm Katie Darrow-Woodruff, founder, owner and operator of this amazing domestic Waterfowl farm.
With help from the family and community, we work hard around our busy schedules to meet the needs of these absolutely amazing Critically & Threatened Endangered birds!
Just a bit about the "How we got started"
In 2017 I became sick. In October 2018, it was FINALLY linked to an illness perceived as probably one of the most horrifying words ever, Cancer. During this time, we had our small backyard flock of 13 chickens and 11 ducks. These guys gave me reason to stay motivated. Seeing them happily greet me and anxiously awaiting me at the front door kept me motivated. Once I was on the road to recovery and tests showed no more threat of cancer being found, I decided I wanted to do something for the ones who kept me going. In 2020, through WEEKS of research, I found out so many breeds were so close to becoming extinct. Breeds that were once so beneficial to our small farms and homesteads. Birds that had so much more to offer a than just cuteness and unconditional love. These birds, became my focus. I wanted to work my hardest at collecting these breeds so I could help them survive as they had done me!

What started out as a small scale backyard flock has surly grown over the past few years and truthfully, we couldn't enjoy doing anything more than what we do! Beginning with your simple Tractor Supply hatchery babies and growing to some of the most beautiful, intelligent and beneficial breeds there are. Our flock continues to grow allowing us to offer even more variety to our local farmers and homesteaders!

Our Mission
To meet our flock numbers to help improve status of these beautiful birds and be able to offer small, starting flocks of these amazing Critically & Threatened Endangered birds to benefit farms and homesteads with both, meat and egg birds at an affordable price!

Visits to our Homestead are welcome upon Appointment!
Please Contact us to schedule a visit to the homestead! We do welcome all visitors, however, breeding season and the current temperament of the birds while this short season passes, as well as any environmental factors such as Avian Influenza, may limit visitors until they calm down and the Avian influenza passes. We do love visits, as do the animals, but it is our focus to keep both the animals and the humans as happy and as healthy as possible to make every experience a pleasant one for all!
